The Clerk’s Office is the front-facing office of the county with its wide range of administrative responsibilities that are critical to both the public and private sectors. The Clerk’s Office is highly dedicated to ensuring a professional, knowledgeable, and effective team. Our goal is to provide a level of customer service that the community can be proud of. Elections Division
The Clerk and Recorder is the Chief Election Official of the County. As the Chief Election Official, the Clerk’s Office is in charge of; registering eligible citizens to vote, maintaining voter rolls, coordinating elections with special districts, school districts, municipalities, and the Colorado Secretary of State. As the Register of Deeds, the Clerk and Recorder’s Recording Division has records from the creation of Fremont County in 1861. By law, the Clerk and Recorder is the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC for short). The Clerk to the Board has many functions, but the most important function is to accurately depict the actions of the BoCC when they are making decisions. The Clerk is the custodian of all minutes, resolutions, ordinances, and other actions the board takes in meetings.
